Honda Technician Training at Centennial College Offers Reliable Experience and Academic Knowledge

If you're looking for a wide range of opportunities within the automotive field, look no further than becoming an employee of Honda. The company is the sixth largest automotive manufacturer in the world and in the year 2008 it surpassed Chrysler as the fourth largest automobile manufacturer in the United States. The opportunity to work with Honda vehicles is further enhanced by the fact that the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics expects job growth in Automotive Service Technology to grow by 14 percent from 2006 through 2016.

However, before you can enter the field and become a successful Honda technician, you must attend GM technician training or Honda technician training. Centennial College's one-year Honda Apprenticeship is a great choice as it focuses on Honda's engines, parts and latest technologies. Due to its specialization, students trained within this program have the edge on the competition as their knowledge is molded to this particular make of vehicle.

In-depth and longer in-school sessions in the Honda technician training are more detailed than traditional apprenticeships. For 64 weeks (32 each), students alternate between Centennial College and their employer. Both in-school and employer sessions complement each other and ensure that students gain the perfect combination of training before graduation.

Conducted out of Ontario's largest automotive training facility, students will find the emphasis is on electronics and the diagnosing of computerized control systems. And, to further their knowledge, students also learn other aspects of vehicle technology. They work on systems such as electrical, body electrical, engine, transmission, steering, front-end, and all other aspects that would allow a Honda vehicle to be serviced. Although the in-school session is hands-on, the most useful real life learning comes from the apprenticeship feature of the program. It is during this time that students are employed by a Honda dealership and are actually compensated for their work. Lastly, some students within the GM technician training at Centennial College may be eligible for Employment Insurance during the in-class training.

In order to apply, students must have an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or a GED or equivalent. They must also be employed by a Honda dealership or be selected through an interview process. Candidates may apply directly to Centennial College, with successful applicants obtaining an employer and registering as a MAP apprentice with the Apprenticeship Branch of the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The application for the Automotive Service Technician Honda MAP 32 program can be completed online. It should be noted that acceptance is based on successful completion of all entry requirements and space is limited.

The Honda technicians employed by dealerships have a variety of tasks, including: diagnosing problems using Honda diagnostic equipment; performing repairs and preventive maintenance on engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes and tires. Honda technicians also conduct vehicle inspections.

Difference between Direct Fit/Universal Fit for Catalytic Converter on California Model Honda Accord?

Hi, I'm going to the mechanic in about 40 minutes...I can't find on the internet what the difference is between these two fits (direct/universal) but a previous mechanic said that I should opt for the direct fit because my 99 Accord is a California model. Can anyone help me out here?

Yeah. If it's california it has a secondary air pump. Either may fit depending on the routing of the injection of that secondary air related to the location of the catalytic converter(s)...but universal is going to be cheaper.
