Tire Grinding

The Daily Grind of Teeth
As if it wasn't enough to deal with the daily grind of work, errands, endless responsibilities, it doesn't stop there. So many people continue to deal with the nightly grind of their teeth while at sleep!
My teeth and I were in a boxing match every night and I'd wake up every morning beat to the punch. Headaches, jaw pain, and toothaches were bothersome, and not to mention my teeth grinding started to shift my beautiful straight teeth, (no braces)…one morning I even a saw a small space creep in between one of them. That's when I knew it was time I need to get a night guard and soon enough my teeth had retired from the ring.
If you are not sure you suffer bruxism, the medical term often used for teeth grinding or clenching, there are symptoms which are clear warning signs you shouldn't ignore. If untreated, bruxism can cause damage to your teeth. Since clenching is often linked to stress, the symptoms of this condition vary greatly with the cause. If anyone sleeping next to you or is in the same room with you and can hear you clenching your teeth in your sleep, then you are serious grinder. If it makes your feel more comfortable, you can consult with your dentist to find out your level of teeth grinding. This is important to know when you are ordering your night guard since a dental lab technician will ask you if you are a light or heavy grinder and if you need the guard for your lower or upper teeth.
Soft night guards are usually more flexible and can be made in three different thicknesses, for light, moderate and heavy grinders. If made correctly, this softer material cushions your teeth when you are clenching or grinding.
The acrylic night guard is semi acrylic, meaning it's made as dual laminate guard with a hard acrylic material on the outside and the softer material on the inside. .The lighter the grinding, the thinner the guard will be fabricated by the technicians. Since this guard can be made in one type of thickness, it's suggested for light to moderate grinders. With the soft material on the inside of the guard, closest to the teeth, it protects your teeth from cracking/chipping with an added comfort fit. The outside of the guard is a smooth, harder acrylic material which simulates the material of your teeth and is less flexible for durability.
If you feel comfortable ordering a night guard without a dentist visit, which many people do, you can determine which type of guard you need based on your symptoms. To figure out which set you should order, either upper or lower, by checking your teeth to see which set have the least amount of wear, which are the sharper set.The night guards should typically be worn on this set of teeth unless for comfort reasons, you prefer the opposite arch. Both sets of teeth will be protected. You can order either the soft or acrylic night guard however, if you are a very heavy grinder, the dental technician would not recommend that you order the acrylic. Heavy grinders or clenchers can at times place over 200 pounds of pressure on their teeth.
Night-time teeth guards help keep teeth from moving, protect ceramic restorations, and protect teeth from wear damage caused by teeth grinding, clenching, and TMJ problems. Custom night guards are probably the most comfortable to wear at night. You need to make sure you can fall asleep with the night guard and keep it on all night. They should not be bulky in your mouth and your tongue should be able to move around freely.
The signs are all there too with the way you feel when you wake up in the morning. Try to sleep extra early one night, if you wake up tired as if you only got one hour of sleep, chances are you've been grinding your teeth all night. Any dentist would tell you that teeth grinding is like work because your body is never at full rest.
You can consider trying these simple tips on what to do before you sleep to help you become more relaxed and keep your mind on calming thoughts and dreams through the night:
-Try drinking a caffeine-free chamomile tea before bedtime
-Keep your laptop away from your bed unless you really need it
-If you can put off reading work emails until the next morning, then don't read them just before you sleep
-Don't talk on the phone just before bedtime
-Read a happy book
-Watch a comedy to fall asleep with laughter
Night guards are made to protect your teeth from damage, but cannot treat the reasons you are grinding your teeth. If you are suffering from stress, try talking to an expert, a friend or a family member about your causes.

Grinding noise coming from front tire as i brake.....?
I drive a 98 Saturn SL2 and just the other day it began making a grinding/scraping noise coming from my front right tire as I brake. When I drive occasionally it'll make a clicking noise as if something is hitting every turn of the tire. But the main problem/noise is as I brake. Any ideas of what it may be? How to fix it or how much?
When was the last time that you had brakes installed? Suggest you have them inspected to determine the nature of the repairs that are needed. Sounds like you have gone metal to metal and will need new rotors as well.
