What is a solenoid....?
Well i was planning to buy a nitrous oxide syystem from NOS.I am trying to decide between Sniper & super power shots,it wud b gr8 if any1 cud help........But the main thing i would like to know here is dat,what is a solenoid in a nitrous oxide system ?.....As i am gonna buy it i shoud know some basics about it........Any help wud b great......Thanx:-)
A solenoid is basically an electrically operated remote switching device. A coil of wire is energized to create a magnetic field, to pull a plunger. Much like a starter solenoid, but in this case, it would be a solenoid valve, which controls the flow of nitrous, so that you don't have to turn the valve open manually when you want it to flow the NOx. Usually controlled by another switch on the throttle linkage, so that the switch activates the solenoid when the throttle is wide open. If you don't want it to go on then, you have to close the main valve on your tank before you start out. Most NOx kit's should come with the switches, wiring, and tubing to route the gas, and a spacer/nozzle to inject it in the airstream.
