I have hot pink nail polish. How do I make it deep red?
I don't have any red nail polish and I don't like hot pink. So what colors can I mix into the pink to make it a darker red?
If you had red you could mix up a pink by adding white. If you had red you could mix up a deep red by adding a little black. Red is a color that is contained in other colors like purple and orange. Because it is a base color (a primary color like blue and yellow) other colors cannot be mixed to create red.
Now, with this considered, you have a red mixed with white (pink). A little white has a strong impact on color. It only took a very small amount of white to turn the red pink but it would take a great proportion of red to return the pink to red. The only way to make that pink a deep red would be to add enough red so it would lessen the effect of the white. Since you are wanting a deep red and it would take so much red to weaken the powerful effect the white, it would not make sense to do this. You would be better off buying the shade of red you desire.
Note: adding black to pink will create a grayish pink. This is because the black will interact with the strong presence of the white making gray. The red will tint the gray towards red but it will not make a deep red.
