10 Different Ways To Kill Bed Bugs Yourself - Or At Least Control Them
Killing bed bugs yourself is a difficult task. They'll hide out beneath base boards, the rear of dresser drawers, behind light switches... just about anyplace. The adult bed bug is approximately the size of an apple seed and flat, until they feed anyway. Although bed bugs aren't a heath hazard (don't carry or transfer diseases), they are more than enough to keep one awake in the evening merely thinking about them. One single bed bug bite will often be mistaken for a mosquito bite and written off as such allowing them time to increase in numbers. Once you see one there is no doubt that you have hundreds if not thousands more.
In time, a full blown infestation might require a professional exterminator. In any case, how many will be to many? Before you choose to act, there are actually a few things to keep in mind. Bed bugs might live a year without the need for feeding on a hosts blood (typically you). An adult female may lay 100 - 600 eggs throughout her life span. It generally might take an egg 50 days to develop fully. So no matter if you're a do-it-yourselfer or work with a pro, it will take a number of treatments and continual observation. With that said... If the problem hasn't gotten to much out of control there are various ways to win the battle against bedbugs. The first 3 listed below are required no matter what you choose to do next
1* Wash every thing in site with the hottest water you can get. Begbugs start dying off at around 114 degrees Farrenheit. And then use a dryer on its hottest setting. Not out on the line to air dry. Temperature is critical. In very hot, dry climates (Phoenix for instance) it is just as effective to put ones bedsheets and cloths inside a black trash bag and place it out under the sun for an afternoon.
2* Vacuum. Vacuum every corner, crook and cranny. Vacuum the drapes, the box springs, the furniture, and so on. Vacuum as if your life depended on it. Bed bugs are not unclean critters. They do not care about crumbs or old food like roaches. But they need vacuumed up after which take the entire vacuum cleaner outdoors to switch bags... Vacuum again.
3* Steam Clean. Now that you've got their attention, mix #1 and #2. Put hot, HOT water in the steam cleaner and go over the room again.
4* Just as powerful as high temperature is, cold temperature works also. Problem is that it must remain below freezing for two weeks to work.
5* Biological warfare. Prior to World War 2 beg bugs were all but eliminated. Around this time the us government outlawed DDTs. Sense then there numbers have been climbing and required tamer toxins and traps. There are many chemical compounds available but practically all of them are not meant to touch the skin. These are generally best but intended for non-traffic areas, box springs, curtains, etc.
6* Mattress Bags. Depending on the level of bedbug infestation, the best choice might be to discard the mattress altogether. For less severe situations, the chemicals from #5 can be sprinkled on and injected into the bed mattress before you seal it in a waterproof mattress bag. They start off at about $60 and go up based on the dimensions needed.
7* Diatomaceous Earth. This is the substitute to hard chemicals. It's an all natural dust ground up from small tiny fossils of single-celled algae. They even put it in commercial dog food as a preservative. On a microscopic level it has jagged edges which cut and kill the bedbugs as they crawl across it. In essence it's just dirt.
8* Tape and Traps. This is more with regard to monitoring but flypaper, roach traps and stuff like that allows you to keep tabs on how successful your efforts have been thus far. And then from virtually any shipping supply store you can pickup double sided sticky tape to wrap around the edges of the mattress. Yet one more way to trap and monitor bed bug traffic.
9* Thyme and tree leaf oil. These are typically a repellent more then anything else. It doesn't destroy them. They get a whiff of it and head the opposite way. But remember that bed bugs might live a year without eating so they continue to reproducing.
10* Natures neem. Neem essential oil and neem extract. If you find that you have already been bitten by bed bugs, this can sooth the itching and hydrate your skin. Matter of fact it is good for your skin no matter if you have bed bugs or not. Bonus is that it keeps the bedbugs away from you while sleeping.
There we have 7 approaches to kill bed bugs and some solutions to monitor your progress in curbing bed bugs. The more you combine the above mentioned tips the better luck you'll have before the need for an exterminator. Just a word of caution though... if you break down and need to use an exterminator, they will request you to tidy up anyway before they even arrive. Get rid of clutter. ' ziplock ' bag all cloths, bed linens, sheets, and so forth. Vacuum and basically do everything mentioned above in 1 though 3.
In closing, understand that before you begin, it may need weeks and months of constant cleaning, laundering, monitoring, vacuuming over and over again to properly kill the bed bugs through there whole life cycle. And hopefully you can catch it before it advances through the house. All it takes is a couple of stowaways in the laundry washing, luggage, sleeping bags or any clothes that you carry around.

Where can you buy a kill switch?
I want to purchase a kill switch so I can install it into my guitar to make it so I can just kill the sound.

Just get any standard dip switch or toggle switch. Wire it to the input jack and that's it. That will kill the sound coming from the guitar cable completely.
Go to any electronic store. This is a standard switch although, I would suggest using the mini-switch version 
Much smaller and looks better on the guitar.
