GTI engine fit 2.0 vw golf transmission?
I need a new engine for my 99 golf and i want to put a GTI engine in it instead because it has more power. would it fit on my transmission? are their engines basically the same size?
its a manual 5speed and its a wolfsburg edition, i have a friend thats a mechanic thats going to put it in but before i buy the engine i want to know if it would fit my car.
the engines are fairly similar, so it is definitely possible, especially if you have the money to let go for it. just to be safe my friend, make sure you get all specifications from your original motor, as well as of the new one to see if it can fit. with a few simple modifications, mainly in the engine bay to fit the new engine, its a possible job. my brother has a 97 golf 3rd generation and we swapped out the original motor for a gti motor, with a few modifications to the engine bay to help it fit better. good luck buddy
