It is also important to restore the normal amount of wedging between the back and the front of the disc, called lordosis, since this can affect overall balance and have an impact on other parts of the spine...

 

How long does the surgery take ?

The operation normally takes about two hours for a single level disc replacement and about three and a half hours if two discs are being replaced.

 

Where is the incision made ?

The operation is done from the front, through the lower part of the abdomen, the patient being placed on his or her back. The incision may be horizontal or vertical and its position will depend on the level of the disc being replaced. For the L5/S1 disc it is usually a little above the top of the pubic hair line but a few centimetres above this for the L4/5 disc. The incision can be as little as 5 or 6 cms (2 inches) in a slim patient...

 

What happens during the procedure ?

After making the incision the anterior abdominal muscles (the 'six-pack' muscles) are separated and the peritoneal sack, containing the abdominal organs, carefully moved to one side. A marker is placed on the disc and an x-ray obtained to confirm the level where the disc replacement is to be inserted. The large blood vessels in front of the spine are then carefully moved to give the necessary access to the disc...

If I lost original sims 3 disc will an expansion pack download work?

I think I've lost my sims 3 disc somewhere, so if I wanted to play and don't want to wait for an expansion disc still to come, will a download work? A download as in the actual game fully paid for, but just for the download without any disc?
I'm on a mac though, so download manager doesn't work so what would I do?

If you haven't lost your product code, you can still activate the game using EA Download Manager. That way you will obtain a digital version that you can download at any time.

Your product code should be on the back of The Sims 3 manual. If you've lost it too and the game is still installed on your computer, you find the product code in the registry. Open it by going to START -> Run. Then type regedit.exe and press Enter. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREElectronic ArtsSimsThe Sims 3ergc and look for a string consisting of random letters and digits below the Data field. That is your product code.

In order to activate the game, proceed to http://www.ea.com/1/download-manager and download the EADM Client. After it has been installed, run it and type in your EA account login details (if you don't have it, create one). Then, within the client, click on a button with a small gear wheel and choose "Redeem Game Code". There you can type in your product code (without dashes) and click "Continue". After that you should be able to download the game through EA Download Manager.

Remember that you may also have to active your expansion packs the same way to avoid compatibility issues.
