It's starting to get better, at least according to earning statements published by auto makers and some of what we hear in the media. But just because Americans are buying cars again, doesn't mean the majority of them are made in the Unites States or from domestically-owned companies.
But domestic automakers and dealers like your Chicago Chevy Suburban dealer are very optimistic and believe that consumers are beginning to trust them again. General Motors has proven that by turning its focus, increasing sales and showing huge profits recently. Total sales for GM grew by almost 25 percent during one quarter of 2009 and the company has repaid about $6 billion of the government loans they received.
Like many taxpayers, I had my doubts that any of that auto bailout money would ever be seen again, but GM is working adamantly and quickly to be sure that it is not in debt to the people who buy its product. Good move.
One of the new models putting domestic companies in the forefront are the hot new Chevy Cruze. It is compact, but with a roomy interior the Cruze also has a bit of the European taste that many Americans have come to enjoy. Customers of Itasca used cars will enjoy the diversity of this car.
The Cruze can produce 138 horsepower and gets as much as 36 mpg. Move on up to the eco model package with the Ecotec turbocharged four-cylinder engine and you'll get 40 mpg. It doesn't have race car speed out of the block, but it will get you where you want to go.
When it comes to safety, you will be cruising with great peace of mind protected by 10 air bags and other features like traction control and electronic stability control. Yes, by the valve(es), if it says in between the rocker arms it will say 202 , 196, or on the top left hand side it will have 2 humps on the side that look like camel humps which means it is an older high compression head. Another way is to flip it over and see how big the intake and exhaust valves are in size . If it is an older head say late 70's and it looks like the valves have never been changed they have to be change as back then they ran regular gas. The most common chevy heads are 196's.
