Tips for Buying Racing Parts

Racing Parts Online Anyone?
Do a quick search for the words "racing parts" and you'll find 101 million results. You read that correctly -- 101,000,000. Without a doubt, people are looking for information about car, motorcycle, model, and all sorts of other racing parts on the Internet. You think there's any interest in people actually buying racing parts online?
Short answer: YES! Sure, there are folks who still don't trust that their online transaction is safe and secure despite all the safeguards. It's along these lines that I offer my first tip for buying racing parts, whether online or at a bricks-and-mortar store: Buy racing parts from a reputable seller!
Just to underscore the popularity of racing and the demand for racing parts, Summit Racing not only has 3 retail stores in addition to allowing you to purchase via mail-order, they also have their own Wikipedia page. See what I mean when you click on Summit Racing. I'm not promoting them. I'm just saying that this is one of the largest companies offering racing parts and proves a hefty demand.
Racing Parts -- New or Used?
I'm not here to debate this topic or even tell you which racing parts you should only purchase new. There's plenty of information and all sorts of tales about what happened when. But this question does bring me to my next tip: Do Your Research!
It's easier than ever to find out information. When you know what particular racing part you're looking for, do a search for the exact name. I even recommend you do an online search for the problem you're having or are trying to solve. Usually you'll get some pretty decent information. And don't overlook Youtube.com as another search place. You might not find what you're looking for, but there's some fun stuff to watch.
Don't be bashful about calling a place and talking to them. That's a part of what I mean by saying to do your research.
Before you hand over your money, know the return/refund policy and warranty! Yep, this is another tip. I know. I know. It sounds like common sense, but it's obviously not because I get a lot of people carrying on about how they got ripped off by somebody. It's always after the fact. They thought one thing and the facts were something else. Dealing with people who have been in business for awhile and have a good name (kinda what I said earlier about reputable) is usually a good thing along these lines. They're not going to stay in business by ripping people off when they sell them racing parts.
Sometimes the "want it now" mindset seriously jacks with getting the best value. This tip is all over that mistake. So here goes: Comparison Shop! That's it. Just do it. Don't purchase what you want from the first place you look. Check around. If there is a large price variance, ask questions....like WHY? It's amazing what you'll learn.
